Activities for 2021

We are trying a new format this year for listing the club sponsored events.  The table of events used in previous years can become very long and require extensive scrolling.  The calendar system provides quicker and more intuitive access to club events.  Information on how to use this calendar service is found immediately below the calendar.

Also, please review important information about attending rides & arena rentals at the bottom of this page.

Clicking an event in the calendar generates a popup box that provides additional detail.  Within the popup box can be found the following:

  • Clicking the map pin will provide an interactive map
  • Clicking a link in the description will provide a relevant webpage or email link
  • Clicking “more details” at the bottom of the popup box will provide access to any available pdf documents (ride sheets, forms, etc.)

Trail rides

  • Riders wishing to participate are to contact the host before 8:00 pm the Tuesday before the ride.
  • Only confirmed riders will be advised of changes or cancelled rides.
  • For insurance purposes, each rider must be an active SATRA member for the current year and additionally must have a current Alberta Equestrian Federation membership.
  • If you are not a member and would like to come on a ride, you are allowed to participate on a once-in-a-lifetime basis — a try-before-you-buy.  This requires a waiver form to be completed.
  • All riders ride at their own risk.  We encourage helmet use.

Arena rentals

  • Riders don’t need to contact the host prior to coming.  However, contact information is provided to inquire about any changes or cancellations (due to weather, etc.).
  • For insurance purposes, each rider must be an active SATRA member for the current year and additionally must have a current Alberta Equestrian Federation membership.
  • We generally start with an hour or so of ground work, then gather for lunch (lunch is not provided so bring your own).  After lunch we ride in the arena until quitting time.
  • There is equipment (pylons, barrels, etc.) at the arena but you are also welcome to bring anything else you would like to use.
  • All riders ride at their own risk.  We encourage helmet use.

Interested in hosting a trail ride?

  • The more trail rides available the better!  If you know a great place to ride consider being a trail ride host.
  • Check out the guidelines for trail ride host and trail boss in the Links & Docs section for more information.
